Dinner tonight locally with Jim. The local guide Mr. Yee will not come tonight.

Meals: B, Welcome Dinner

Day 3/Monday Vientiane – Pak Lay 225 km dirt/paved
After breakfast at the hotel, you begin with an orientation to the bikes and a pre-trip safety briefing on Lao driving.   We ride out of town and along the Mekong River.  The road is not paved after the 10 km and will be dusty with some challenging sections.  We have lunch in the middle of nowhere and then continue on to Xayanmkhan.   We take the last 60 km on paved road over a small range and then a ferry to Pak Lay, overnight here and dinner locally.

Meals: B, L, D

Day 4/Tuesday Pak Lay – Xayaboury (225 km dirt road – 200 km dirt road/small track)
Breakfast and we depart at 08:00.  There are several options on this ride day and based on the riding ability from the previous day.  We will need to arrive in Xayaboury by 15:00(no problem) so an early start is required. Upon arrival, we go to the Elephant Conservation Center. At 16:00 you will join in with the afternoon bath of the Elephants!  Dinner at the center tonight is at 19:00 and overnight here.

Meals: B, L, D

Day 5/Wednesday Xayaboury – Luang Prabang  (80 km dirt 25 km paved)
Breakfast at 07:00 and you take a walking tour of the Elephant Conservation Center.  You’ll then meet the herd and spend about an hour with them.  We depart at 10:00 and ride north to cross the Mekong River again.  Depending on the group ability, we’ll take one of two roads into Luang Prabang hoping to arrive by 15:00(easy) so you can walk about the World Heritage City center. Dinner tonight is on your own account as there are many places.  Your guide will accompany you through the night market located outside your hotel’s front door.

Meals: B, L

Day 6/Thursday Luang Prabang – Ngam Ngum Lake 250 km paved
The morning Monk Procession is around 06:30 and we’ll be having breakfast at 07:00 and be on the road by 07:45.  We ride south and have lunch at a scenic overlook.  The ride is the best view paved road in Laos and we’ll hurry the first bit but not the part after lunch.  We’ll skip Vang Vieng and go for a small resort on a lake slightly south of town.  Quite and quite cool – better than Vang Vieng by a long shot.

Meals: B, L

Day 7/Friday Blue Lagoon Resort
The full day here, options for jetski and other water sports are available. http://water-sports-lao.com/

Day 8/Saturday Return to Vientiane 200 km paved, some dirt?
