Day to day itinerary

 

Day 1: Yangon arrival – City tour (L/G)

Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport welcome by our local guide and transfer to your Hotel. Lunch at La Padonmar restaurant. In the afternoon drive to Mawtin Jetty and take a rickshaws for a short trip along the Yangon River and then visit China Town to see evening market. Late in the afternoon, visit the Shwedagon Pagoda described by Somerset Maugham: "The Shwedagon rose superb, glistening with its gold, like a sudden hope in the dark night of the soul of which the mystics write, glistening against the fog and smoke of the thriving city." This massive bell-shaped stupa rises nearly 100 meters above its hill-top surroundings. Wander through this magnificent structure and its courtyards, stupas, bells, Temples, and Buddha images, and see religious and secular visitors from all parts of the globe. Shwedagon has become the symbol of Myanmar. Enjoy the sunset over the Pagoda. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon - Bagan – City tour (B/L/G)

Morning flight to Bagan. Full day sightseeing tour of Bagan with a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples, such as Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; the Ananda Temple, with four huge standing Buddha images and numerous seated figures in niches around the galleried interior. Visit to Mya Thitsa Workshop to see the various stages of the technique-s of lacquer production. It's amazing to watch 50 artists using many processes and this traditions of producing lacquer ware is recorded 170 years ago... and continue sightseeing of village. Lunch at River View restaurant. Enjoy a enjoy a boat tour in the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. The boat will take you Kyaung-ku Oo Min Temple, one of the earliest temples in Bagan. The walls and the door jambs are decorated with beautiful stone carving ornaments. On the way, you will also see ways of live along the river. Then. enjoy sunset over terraces of the Shwesandaw Pagoda. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 3: Bagan – Balloon ride – Free afternoon (B)

In the early morning, you enjoy a baloon ride over Bagan. The rest of the day is free at your leisure for reading and swimming. If you feel like self-explored, see suggestion below

 

Suggested program for self-guided tour (excluded): Visit the Gu Byauk Gyi Temple (Wetkyi-in), a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes, the Shwe Gu Gyi Temple, noted for its fine stucco carvings and panoramic views of the area’s many monuments. In the early evening, sightseeing in Bagan with horse cart or bicycle, visit the Bupaya 's, the first style stupas of Bagan, on the banks of the mighty Irrawaddy and Mahabodhi Temple, as the Hindu temple and recall the style of Mahabodi Temple Bodaghaya. Then visit the Temple of Gawtawpalin 13th century and visit the tallest temple in Bagan, Temple Thatbyinnyu. Then proceed to Dhamayangyi Temple which was built in the 12th century, and is solid Bagan and look like the pyramid, Sulamuni Temple, where we can see the different colors of murals. Back to hotel for leisure at swimming pool. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Bagan – Mandalay – Maymyo – Mandalay (B/L/G)

After breakfast, transfer to airport for Mandalay Flight. Arrive Mandalay and then check in Hotel. Continue Maymyo (appr. 2 hrs.), a former British hill station, 67 km east of Mandalay.   Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.  Then, take a horse carriage around the town, quiet and green atmosphere with old colonial houses. Lunch at San Franciso Restaurant. Then visit, the National Botanical Garden which features wide expanses of manicured grass, large flower beds, 20 hectres of natural forest with walking trails, rose garden, an orchid house, a small stupa on an islet in a pond and several other ponds. Proceed to the Peik Chin Myaung cave a 45 minutes drive away from the city centre. The stalactite & stalagmites formed naturally cave has many springs with clear water running under the walk way and also a lot of Buddha images. Then, back to Mandalay and overnight in Mandalay.

Day 5: Mandalay – Amarapura - Mandalay free afternoon (B/L/G)

After breakfast, proceed to Amarapura the "City of Immortals". Amarapura was the capital of upper Burma until 1850. As was the custom, most of the important wooden palaces and monasteries were taken down and transported to the new capital in Mandalay. Continue to visit Bagaryar monastery, in which variety of Buddha images from 16th to 20th century are displayed. You can also visit to a library, where they stored the old palm leaf books on which Buddha scriptures were written. Then have a leisure walk at U Bein teak wood bridge, which is over 150 years old. Go back to hotel to take leisure. Lunch at Amarapura restaurant.

Suggested program for self-guided tour (excluded): In the early evening,  drive up to Mandalay Hill, a vantage-point for panoramic view of the city. One famous song in Myanmar said “if you want to live long, you have to go Mandalay Hill”. Then proceed to Mahamuni Pagoda, with its spectacular Buddha image covered in thick layers of gold leaf. After that, visit to night market and go back to hotel for overnight.

 

Day 6: Madalay – Heho – Kalaw (B/L/G)

After breakfast, visit the Shwenandaw Monastery, noted for its exquisite wood carvings, Atumashi Monastery, the "Incomparable Monastery", the Kuthodaw Pagoda, known as the world's Biggest Book for its stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures. Lunch at Ko’s Kitchen restaurant. Then drive to airport to take Heho flight. Arrive at Heho airport and proceed to Kalaw (approx: 2:00 hrs)  and overnight at Kalaw.

Day 7: Kalaw – Htee Pain Trekking (B/L/D/G)

Note – the trek can be extended to 3 days or even longer

 

After breakfast, take a car to go to La Mine village for half & hour. After arrived to La Mine village, continue your trekking trip to Pin New Village and it is about one and half hours trekking. The people in this area grow fruits; Avocado, Banana, Oranges, Jack fruits, Papaya. You will have the chance to see the crab apple trees along the way together with some shady Banyan trees. After that, 15 minutes walk to Paw Kai, which is Pa Oo village and you will see chilli plantation around there. From there, proceed 1 hrs trekking trip to Kone Hla Village. Arrived there, take a lunch at Kone Hla Village, a Danu Village. After lunch you have to walk for another 2 hours to Pat Tu Pauk, a Pao village. Native along the way do the plantation for potatoes, ginger and sesame. After 30 minutes walk, you will reach to Htee Pain, a Pao village. Dinner and overnight at monastery in Htee Pain village.

 

Day 8: Htee Pain - Taung Po Gyi – Inle lake - Trekking (B/L/D/G)

After breakfast continue the 4 hours trekking trip to the shore of the Inle lake. The trail goes through beautiful scenery of Bamboo forest. The natives of Pao and Intha along the way grow fruits; Banana, Papaya, Potato and Beans. Lunch at Taung Bo Gyi village. After lunch go by boat to Taung To, well known for the 5-days rotating market "Inle Floating Market" and the production of rice crackers. Wander around and observe these cottage industries. Overnight at Inle Lake


Day 9: Inle – Indein – Inle - Ywa Ma Market day (B/L/G)

After breakfast, visit one of the colorful markets in Inle Lake Area. Here in Inle Lake, the markets are not everyday. They are rotating on 5 days basics.drive to Nyaung Shwe, a town at the north of Inle Lake. From there take Inthar Style outboard to have excursion in Inle Lake (25 km) famous for its unique one-leg rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing and village life and the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda housing five sacred and almost shapeless Buddha images, contorted because of the quantity of applied gold leaf, gifts from the believers. The Buddha images are purported to have come here in the 12th Century. In the afternoon, proceed to the silk weaving village of In Phaw Khon and visit Nga Phe Chaung (the biggest and oldest monastery around Inle Lake). Overnight in Inle Lake.

 

Day 10: Inle – Heho – Ngapali Beach (B)

After breakfast, drive to Heho Airport for your flight to Ngapali Beach. Then relax in Ngapali Beach,

Bagan Balloon Tour Additional Information: 

Weight Restrictions:

Any Passenger in excess of 125 kg / 280 pounds, or any passenger who requires the space in the basket for 2 passengers, will be required to pay a 100% surcharge of the ticket price.

 

How many people can fit in one balloon?
They currently have five balloons in service. Two balloons have room for 8 passengers in four separate compartments plus a pilot. Two balloons have room for 12 passengers in four separate compartments. Newest and largest balloon can accommodate 16 passengers also in four compartments.

 

How long is the flight?
Flights normally last 45 minutes to one hour, or longer depending on the wind. The whole experience including hotel pick ups and light champagne breakfast lasts between 2 ½ to 3 hours. Pick up time is 5:30 am from hotel.
